Projects > Food Forest
On the slopes and plains, corners and pockets of Whispering Waters, are emerging food forests in a multitude of shapes and sizes.

The food forest are woven into the tapestry of the natural landscape along-side indigenous trees with layers of Canopy (tall fruit/nut trees), Sub-canopy/Understory (dwarf fruit trees), Shrub (berries, veggies), Herbaceous (herbs, veggies), Root/Rhizosphere (root crops), Groundcover (living mulch), and Vines/Climbers (vertical growth) .
The food forest idea took seed in 2021, and they now exhibit in full glory their magical forest network and rhythm with the steadily expanding biodiversity. These young food forests buzz with the love, labour and numerous experiments of the community with footprints that can be traced to pineapple crowns from Meghalaya; orange, mosambi, lemon saplings from Nagpur citrus research institute, Chamomile seeds from Dehradun, Kokum from Lonere, Bush pepper from Kerala.
Legacy of Nourishment, our Food Forests
